Deliver Us From Nowhere: TRACK ONE

Track One: 'Man Will Meddle,' inspired by 'Nebraska'

We're a mere three weeks and a few days away from opening Deliver Us From Nowhere.  Yeah, we can't believe it either!
As you know, we have a whole army of people working hard to make this show come to life and we thought it was about time to introduce you to some of them.  And what better place to start than with the writer of the very first play, inspired by the very first track of album that inspired it all, Nebraska.  You can check out the source material here, and our interview with Justin Gerber below.
What's your name and what are you doing here?
My name is Justin Gerber and I am one of the 11 playwrights involved with Deliver Us From Nowhere.  I wrote 'Man Will Meddle,' inspired by Nebraska’s title track.  I’m also assistant directing Bob Fisher’s take on 'Johnny 99.'
What gets you most jazzed about DUFN? To see how the pieces fit together with a such a great number of writers, directors, actors, and musicians. What gets you most jazzed about 'Man Will Meddle,' specifically? Honestly, it’s the first play, short or long form, I’ve ever written.  I can’t wait to see how Brian translates the words onto the stage. What about the song 'Nebraska' inspired you to write this piece? It’s quite dark, and I’ve often thought not only of the character singing the song, but the girl “just twirlin’ her baton.” What's your favorite Boss song? 'Racing in the Street' off of Darkness on the Edge of Town. “But now there's wrinkles around my baby's eyes/And she cries herself to sleep at night/When I come home the house is dark/She sighs, ‘Baby, did you make it all right?’” Why should people come see this night of theatre? Tympanic’s Artistic Director, Dan Caffrey, is the biggest Springsteen fan I know, and wouldn’t do The Boss any disservice.  This show should bring in not only theatergoers, but fans of music, as well.
