Inside Ruby's Mind: Christine Vrem-Ydstie as Junebug

What’s your name and what are you doing here?

I'm Christine Vrem-Ydstie (I know what you're thinking. It's Norwegian). I don't think I have the time or emotional wherewithal to discuss why I'm here, so suffice it to say, I am Junebug and Junebug is me.

How did you find yourself to being a part of Ruby Wilder?

Our director, James Palmer, reached out to me and asked me to audition based on mywork in one of Red Tape Theatre's Fresh Eyes Projects (Matawan, nee SHARKS!, by Tympanic's own Dan Caffrey). I auditioned, demonstrated my ability to be a crazy person, and was cast as Junebug (natch).

What about this play excites you?

I love stories about women and I love stories about sisters. I've got a big sis and let me tell ya, we've got a totally unique connection that no one else can ever really understand or participate in. Brooke Allen does an amazing job of representing the beauty and the ugliness of that bond in the script.

What about this play scares you?

Having to embody the physicality of a woman who's a ballerina AND a junkie. And playing darts on stage.

Who is your favorite badass woman?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you're laughing or sneering, you've obviously never watched the show.

In five words or less, why should people come see Ruby Wilder?

Paige, Josh, Sean, Alex, James.

You can meet Christine and the rest of the Ruby Wilder cast and crew at the Opening Night Reception on October 4th, following the performance! Get your tickets here!

There is still time left to subscribe to see Ruby Wilder, Brewed, special events for both, AND attend our Season Launch Dinner next year!
